DOD Boneshaker Distortion Pedal
The DOD Boneshaker Distortion pedal was designed by Blackarts Toneworks.
The DOD website calls it a Dirty Boost with EQ. I think that is an accurate way to describe this pedal. While it does have a great deal of gain it didn’t seem to quite be able to dial in the types of metal sounds I like. However, I did like the heavy tones I did get out of it. Check out the Jam at the beginning of the video below to hear:
If you are in the market for this pedal I do have it listed in the Picking Power reverb shop at the time of this writing.
The DOD Boneshaker controls are Distortion, Depth, Level, Low, Mid, and High. The Low, Mid, and High knobs are dual concentric knobs that allow control of level and frequency of the EQ.
For the solo in the intro jam for the video above I combined the DOD Boneshaker with a JHS Pink Panther delay. I used a quarter note delay tapped in at the tempo of the jam. You could fiddle with the knob until you get the right timing but a tap tempo button makes it much easier and faster.
Who is this Pedal for?
This pedal is for anyone who wants to dirty up their sound a bit. I can see it being used in anything from blues rock to doom. I think it is about how someone decides to use the pedal. There is plenty of distortion and tone shaping available using the depth and EQ.
